Filth Collection

“Kill everyone now! Condone first degree murder, advocate cannibalism, eat shit! Filth are my politics, filth is my life.”

The 1972 movie “Pink Flamingos” by the cult director John Waters talks about the life and vicissitude of it's main character: Divine (playing herself), that under the alias of Babs Johnson erned herself status of «filthiest person alive», making Connie and Raymond Marble so mad that the will eventually star what is so called «the battle of the filth». In this motion picture we will see some classic Waters' characters, with the Dreamlanders group already well unite from the previous projects. The script is the most outregeos ever made by Waters to this point, wanting to astonish the audience another time with very explicit sexual contentents, racism, sadomasochism, incest, rage and the infamous (completely out of plot contest) coprophagy scene to the tune of Patti Page's “That Doggie In The Window”.

The collection is been developed analysing the three main character: Babs (Divine), Connie and Raymond. Each of them has been broken in to smaller pieces and their story, personality, wardrobe, etc. studied meticulously through images research that lead to a moodboard for each individual. A smaller moodboard were then made to summarize all the concepts set beforehand.

Since the development of the collection took place at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, getting material to try and fit the patterns was almost impossible. I so decided to 3D prototype few of the garments using Clo3D.
